Cfstyle.com was able to talk to Kenwyn Millington of Trinidad and Tobago who has been nominated in the categories of Caribbean Male Runway Model and Male Photo Model.
1) How do you feel about being nominated for a Caribbean Fashion Award?
I am very happy to be nominated in two categories. It is good to see that my work is being seen and even appreciated around the Caribbean and by extension the international market. Being an aspiring international model, for a while I thought that I was under the radar because I haven’t made the “breakthrough” by working with well established international brands but I understand that the CFA is about us (Caribbean people and our accomplishment no matter how big or small).
2) How many years have you been modelling?
I have been modelling in Trinidad and Tobago since 2005, regionally since 2006, internationally since 2007
3) What has been the most memorable moment in your career?
Thus far it has been leaving my job at National Flour Mills to go to the US to meet with a booker from Major Model Management, and when I did they didn’t sign me. This was a life changing moment for me because I knew that even though it was a bad moment it made me realise how much I wanted to do this, and make this my career!
4) What are your plans for your career for the next five years?
Honestly I’m leaving it up to God. But, I am going to do any and everything morally necessary to achieve my goal to become one of the Caribbean’s most successful international model and by extension a common name in the modelling industry.
5) What would you be doing if not your current profession?
Accounting which was my profession before modelling started.
6) What’s the difference between fashion and style?
It’s funny because I always ask others this question. Style is something personal. Every person has his or her style and adds it to his way of life, be it a walk, or the way they wear their clothes. Fashion is more about apparel and everything connected with it from the designer to the stylist to the make up artist and the model. In my opinion the difference is that style can be generally applied to anything you do but fashion is limited to apparel and its subsidiaries.
