Guyana Fashion Week has announced the dates for the event. CFSTYLE.com obtained the following release which gives us an insight into the plans, aims and aspirations of the organization.
2010 marks the staging of the fourth edition of the phenomenal exposition, which still maintains its original mission, of revitalizing the fashion industry.The prestigouse pegasus Hotel will host the 2 day runway shows. The event seeks to position its practitioners, not only to increase their visibility but to promote the enormous economic potential of this industry. Ultimately, Guyana Fashion Weekend elevates the status of the local fashion industry and seeks to establish its global competitiveness. That is one of the reason for fashion designing should be added to an existing institution or a designing school.
All in all GFW provides a strategic and essential platform for merchandising and branding for both the local fashion industry and its corporate partners.
GFW endorses, the Low Carbon Development Strategy. We will venture into and ensure that we spread the word of the need to preserve this nation’s environment for the enjoyment of future generations not only from the perspective of being able to view the splendour of Guyana’s natural beauty, but also enjoy the benefits derived from the healthy drinking water, shelter for wildlife and oxygen. Since the mandate is to develop industries not only based in the energy sector, fashion adds new direction to their diversification efforts. In keeping with the adage, “It is not what the country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”, GFW has taken the bull by its horns to spearhead this development. October is Cancer Awareness month and it will be highlighted in all of GFW activities.
