Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago – The Opening – A review

As guests entered the HYATT lobby on Friday evening, they were greeted by smiling ushers directing them to the stairway on which there were four models stunningly outfitted in wedding dresses by Heather Jones Designs . Another 6 model brides formed an honour guard of sorts along the corridor to the ballroom.

Cocktails went until 8 instead of the advertised 7pm, but the networking was extremely good, with government ministers, sport stars, entertainers, former beauty queens, a diverse range of other who’s who from business, the media, politics, and the fashion world, all present and in chatting mood.

Unfortunately, unlike the dresses – some colourful, short and flirty, or patterned, or shimmery, and all flattering to their wearers – the cutters on offer were mundane and uninspired. We were all thankful for the vodka and sour apple martinis, and the Sangria!

Christian Boucaud – Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago 2009 Interview

CFSTYLE.com talks to designer Christian Boucaud about her collection for Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago 2009. Christian Boucaud - DesignerShe will be presenting on Sunday her Swim wear and Resort line. Look out for it.

1.  Where do you get your inspiration for design?

Firstly I started designing at a young age and so I got most of my inspiration from my mother and my grandparents. Actually my first collection was inspired by my grandfather and all the stories he told me of his difficult life. But, over the years, my inspiration evolved and frankly it comes from anything. This year for example, the inspiration for my collection came from purity and innocence two topics I was exploring with my form four Literature class.

2. Where in the world have your designs been featured?

I have done work in Trinidad only however, this year and early next year I am expected to do some work in the US.
