Is the electric car the new fashion statement for environmentally minded? Ask Chevrolet Volt
As the world seeks to leverage the issue of being environmentally aware we have the first mass produced electric car coming to market. The environmentally minded fashion consumer may be its biggest buyer who wants to be both hip and save the environment. In the Caribbean these vehicles may be a while off but we also need them here and the fashionable among us will love to have them.
The Chevrolet Volt is the only electric vehicle that can operate under a range of weather climates and driving conditions with little concern of being stranded by a depleted battery.
Volt has a total driving range of about 340 miles and is powered by electricity at all times. For up to the first 40 miles, the Volt drives gas- and tailpipe-emissions-free using electricity stored in its 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. When the Volt’s battery runs low, a gas powered range-extending engine/generator seamlessly operates to extend the driving range another 300 miles on a full tank. Read the rest of this entry »
An analysis of the Jamaica fashion season 2010
CFSTYLE.com has adapted an analysis of Kemar Daswell on the Jamaican fashion season. The analysis gives a comparison of the two biggest events in Jamaica notably: Caribbean Fashion Week and Style Week Jamaica. Meiling Model Boot Camp Moments
CFSTYLE.com understands that the participants of the Meiling Model Boot Camp are having the best of experiences as evidenced by the pictures and the details forthcoming from the event. We hope for continued events like this that are meant to drive the industry forward.
Day Two of the Meiling Model Boot Camp was described as a hairy situation with students receiving instruction from renowned hair stylist Anthony Medina. Anthony’s animated presentation style coupled with his immense knowledge and skill made for a workshop extraordinaire!
Anthony started with the basics of hair care and all were shocked to discover that some of their present hair caring habits were detrimental to their hair! Anthony encouraged students to develop a trusting relationship with their hair stylist but he also empowered them to take control of their hair decisions.Each student was shown simple but effective techniques to enhance their looks and their homework was to experiment with different styles.
The info-packed workshop touched on topics ranging from warnings of carcinogenic hair products, hair styling tools, to keeping informed on new trends through magazines and the internet.The lucky students also were given a surprise gift compliments of Morocan Oil which Anthony said is the new miracle hair product!
After lunch, students were introduced to two special guest speakers who covered perhaps the most important part of the course ‘The business of Modelling’. Stefan Williams, former model and now event coordinator at Inglefield, Ogilvy, Mather Advertising Agency shared his modelling journey and explained the process of models working with advertising agencies. He pointed out the pertinent questions to ask before accepting modelling jobs and emphasized that with contracts, the students must understand what they are reading and get advice before signing anything. He also opened their eyes to other interesting model related jobs such as hosting shows, brand ambassadors, print and television commercials.
