MasterCard Worldwide has parternered with The Falls at West Mall for the Third consecutive year to host “MasterCard Fashion Month”. Four weekly fashion shows are being produced by Christopher Nathan, CEO of Coco Velvet International and managed by Alison Smith of Smith & Smith Productions.
Each fashion show will be individually themed: Trini Fashionista, Lipstick Jungle, Showstopper and the grande finale – B’Scene culminating on the 15th May, 2010. The show will feature high fashion clothing, shoes, accessories and makeup from the shops at The falls and will be staged on a catwalk throughout the entire mall in order to enhance visibility and create excitement for on-looking shoppers.
This year, the programme will have several new elements including a micro site on the Trinidad and Tobago mastercard.com website which will contain information related to the “MasterCard Fashion Month”, in addition to a “Best Dressed BFF” competition whereby two best friends will get the chance to compete prizes every week.
Among the new elements being introduced this year is also a community relations initiative that allows MasterCard to work closely with the Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design (CAFD) at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. During the month long initiative, six groups of CAFD student pairs will design en ensemble that represents the theme of each week, giving them the platform to display their talent. According to Lorena Holguin, Vice President of Marketing for MasterCard in the Caribbean, “This initiative is about bringing added value to shoppers and merchants alike, while bringing additional exposure to the local talent of the arts.”
