The final screening of candidates for the Tobago Top Model 2009 competition was held on Sunday September 06th at the Esplanade rotunda. From this and a previous screening approximately 40 young males and females including plus sized candidates, were selected to participate in the intensive 9 part workshop which unfolds over the coming three weeks.
The first of the nine workshops was also held on Sunday, and candidates were schooled in basic turns and instruction following, and got their first test in public speaking.
The Tobago Top Model competition is in its 04th year, and has produced the likes of Dominique Amorer who currently models in Europe and the US, Marsha Alexander another international model, Latifah Morris who has worked with Peter Elias, Calvin French and Caribbean Belle, as well as Michelene Auguiste who did not even complete the course of the competition and was selected by the world’s top model agency – IMG.
Christopher Nathan of Coco Velvet International and Head of the UTT Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design is the driving force behind the competition.
