Last week Monday, we highlighted one of the hottest trends for the summer, the Little Bright Dress. This week, we’ll show you how to wear the trend of bold, bright colours using pieces from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection of Prajje 1983, a New York-based brand created by Haitian designer .
You’ve seen work from Prajje 1983 on CFstyle.com in the past… it’s definitely a brand we like keeping an eye on as the pieces are always fun, fresh and very trendy!
These are our picks from the current collection, chosen to help you rock the look while keeping it Caribbean.
This strapless yellow dress is fun and simple. Use a belt to accentuate the waist, or a brightly coloured sash to highlight the colour-blocking trend. Try a white blazer for a smart look, or a cropped denim jacket to dress it down. A great wedge shoe will work well here to elongate those pins and truly represent summer weather.
Here are two versions of an outfit in the beautiful tone of royal blue. This is a colour that will flatter just about anybody, no matter how dark or light your skin is. Accessorizing with hot pink or yellow accents will bring this look to the forefront, or you can dress it down with less bright colours… but why would you want to do that?
This jacket and shorts combo looks great together, but as separates, you can really play with the look. Why not try a straight-leg white tailored pant, or even a cigarette pant if you are blessed with the legs of Gisele Bündchen?
Our Editor says: For maximum versatility, I would have this jacket tailored to a cropped length and remove the skirted part of the jacket. I’m not the tallest person in the world, so creating a cropped version of this would allow me to play with the illusion of height by pairing it with an elongating pant or pencil dress ending just below the knee.
As for the shorts? Well, wear them with practically anything for day and night. This colour will work so well with white, black and everything in-between. Stock up on fitted and loose vest tops in every style and colour and start having fun! Use heels and a killer clutch to dress it up, or wedges and an oversized bag for a cute daytime look.
Our Editor says: Steal a couple of your boyfriend’s shirts and experiment with blousing them out, buttoning them, or leaving them open with a vest top or tube top peeking out from underneath. There are so many ways to style a men’s shirt to look casual chic and ready to go!
And just for good measure…
We know it’s not a dress, but jumpsuits are still hot in the Caribbean (we just can’t seem to let go!) This offers a tailored version to the oh-too-common stretch jersey versions. Make it classy with a beret as shown here, if you dare, or play with prints by adding a sash at the waist to break it up. As usual, a blazer would complement the look for something more professional (and this is a perfectly acceptable work look with a cute blazer if you attend shows and other entertainment industry functions!)
Our Editor says: jazz this one up with a loose-fitting asymmetrical waistcoat hanging open. I love the beret, so with that accessory and a waistcoast, the fashionista is sure to come out in any girl!
Again, this is a look that works well across the board when it comes to footwear. Heels, wedges or flats will all coordinate nicely with this outfit.
Thanks to Prajje 1983 for keeping us on-trend, classy and stylish all at the same time for Summer 2012! We look forward to seeing what you put together for the season ahead!
