International Runway Watch – Emporio Armani
The Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2012 collection had a great selection of monochrome wear for every taste, in great separates to allow for mixing and matching, either with black, white or colour. The versatility of the pieces in this collection makes it our international pick for this Monochrome Monday.
This white shirt with black accents is a really fun way of wearing a shirt that is suitable for both casual chic and office wear (imagine this with a high-waisted black pencil skirt and black leather pumps… gorgeous!). The graphic nature of the straight black lines keeps it fresh and modern, while the feminine flirty-ness of the sheer white fabric and the prominence of the collar area make it a wardrobe item that doesn’t require much accessorizing at all… A definite win!
We love this dress and the originality in the cut of the skirt. The layers are perfect to add that feminine touch to the black-and-white theme, adding to the movement of the dress. However, we would pair it with a black waistcoat – loose worn open, or fitted and closed – with tall wedges for a cute daytime look (loose worn open, or fitted and closed) and a chic black bolero with peep toe forties pumps in the evening (also a great area to add a splash of intense colour!).
Our favourite piece in this collection, this short flared halter dress with flirty layers is figure flattering and will work for both short and tall – just remember that petite women can work a shorter hemline (just one or two inches!) in order to elongate the legs, whilst the length pictured here is perfect for you taller gals!

Our clothing pick:
These über-cute shorts from design label NIQ Fashion caught our eye at the collection launch and are our must-have item this week. Designer Nick Salloum always uses screen-printing and the logo detail/signature on the back pocket adds to the personality of this great item. Pick yours up at the NIQ fashion website (link to www.niqfashion.com) or head over to William Duds in Woodbrook, Port-of-Spain for those of you in Trinidad!
Our accessory pick:
Speaking of über-cute, this polka dot bow and mesh hairband from Xhotik by Kimeisha Bailey of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a great way to easily accessorize a daytime look and keep it fun and playful. Wear it in the evening as the perfect compliment to a forties-inspired pinup-girl look!
And just because we love it:
Photographed by Courtney Chen, this swimsuit by Jamaican designer Camesha Powell of POSHE just screams sexy. The red tie is the perfect accent and, as shown here, accessorized with a fantastic pair of sunglasses, this is a one piece that will most definitely turn heads.
