It’s been about 30 years since Heather Jones began designing in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Jones studied tailoring and garment construction with the late bespoke tailor Fitz Blackman. She combined these skills with her natural artistic talents of drawing and painting, transferring her unique designs onto her garments, resulting in the perfect marriage of hand-painting, batik and tie-dye.
Heather Jones’ international career was launch when Miss Trinidad & Tobago 19080, Althea Rocke, was photographed in one of her designs. The designer is now well-known and respected throughout the Caribbean and is considered to be one of the foremost artists of Trinidad & Tobago. She has shown her work across the Caribbean, North America, Paris, Germany and the UK. In 2002, Heather Jones was the prêt-à-porter award recipient at the Fashion Week of the Americas, held in Miami, Florida.
