Jamaican Fashion Season Begins; Jamaican Bloggers Keep Us Informed

The island of Jamaica began its fashion season today with Style Week Jamaica, and Caribbean Fashion Week is scheduled to happen in June. The intense pressure to complete outstanding and flawless creations can be felt in the fashion circles around the island. Not to be outdone are the stylists and models that have been conceptualizing and hitting the gyms respectively and fashion bloggers like Ashlei Fearce, Candy Renee and James Black giving tips to their readers on what’s hot for the season and how to create their own style.

These bloggers are as vital to the fashion industry as the designers themselves, as they give independent opinions on the collections that are showcased at many fashion shows. Oftentimes they are stylists or designers in their own right who have years of industry experience. One must note however some of these bloggers may just be lovers of fashion without any formal training.

Ashlei Fearce’s self-named blog gives readers a weekly or bi-weekly update on what’s happening in celebrity fashion trends, with polls on which celebrity wore it best for the unlucky few that get caught in the same outfit.

Alternatively, Candy Renee’s blog has a more personal insight as she talks about style and incorporates make up and shoes into her weekly blog updates. Candy Renee has been styling the men of Kingston with some of the funkiest and most exciting clothes that sourced from all over the world. Her client base ranges from entertainers to professionals. In 2009, she introduced Access by Candy Renee, an added subsidary to her retail company TheFashionHouse Ltd.

The latest addition to the world of fashion blogging is designer and stylist James Black of Yahdie Conscious, whose blog is revolutionizing the local fashion blog experience. Black is also the designer of the trendy Glamheads and Tribal Chains that are worn by some of the top female music industry females and socialites in Jamaica. The blog does one thing differently: well-produced video blogs with top Jamaican male entertainers giving their take on fashion, with their own accompanying fashion tips. JBSTYLEZONE is indeed one to watch.

Styleweek Jamaica lit the fuse of fashion with lights, camera, action on Wednesday in downtown Kingston historical car-park. Against the darkness of the night skies dotted with shining stars, the White Party launch woke up the fashion world with a stunning selection of jewellery. Deiwght Peters and Saint International entertained the specially invited guests with a party atmosphere but the bottom line was business and opportunities in the competitive world of fashion. Styleweek Jamaica is the future of fashion in Jamaica.
