On Thursday, February 3rd, 2011 the Atlanta Fashion Industry Meetup Group will host CAFE – Caribbean American Fashion Exchange, a JLCPr, Inc. program, with an event called The Nines, celebrating the Group’s 900-strong membership milestone, as well as welcoming visitors from several Caribbean Countries visiting Atlanta for the CAFE-AmericasMart Familiarization (FAM) Trip.
The FAM Trip will provide an opportunity for the Caribbean delegates to meet the Atlanta Fashion Industry. They will visit the Atlanta AmericasMart during Market, and observe first-hand, the inner-workings of the Atlanta Apparel trade shows as they prepare for their October 13 – 16, 2011 exhibition and fashion show. Expected in attendance are Trinbago’s leading designers and Fashion Association of Trinidad and Tobago Board Members, Meiling, Heather Jones, Robert Young, Ecliffe Elie, Dr. Michele Reis, representatives from the Ministry of Trade, the Honorable Consul General Laura Marie West from Miami, and Charisse Parsons, a design consultant. Also expected from other countries are Socrates McKinney of Dominicana Moda, from the Dominican Republic, and Owen Bethel of Islands of the World Fashion Week from The Bahamas.
CAFE is a reciprocal marketing strategy targeting the fashion industry of five Caribbean countries – Barbados, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, The Bahamas, and Trinidad and Tobago. Atlanta-based Caribbean Consulates representing these countries are invited to participate and encouraged to use the opportunity to promote their countries while assisting in hosting the Caribbean delegates.
